Your baby this week

  • The brain grows very fast and the head is large compared with the body.
  • The nostrils and the lenses of the eyes form.
  • The arm buds lengthen and hands appear at their ends, still like tiny paddles.
  • The umbilical cord has formed and connects the baby to the placenta.

Your body this week

  • You may have more saliva than usual, and nausea may carry on.
  • Needing to wee often continues, as the growing womb presses on your bladder.
  • Constipation is common; water, fruit and vegetables help.
